Drunken Driver kills passenger leaving Sixth Street

A 23-year-old Austin resident was charged with several counts of aggravated assault and one count of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault for her role in a fatal car crash that killed the passenger riding in her vehicle, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Early in the morning on September 22nd, 2011 Erica Lynn Nash-Wood and her male passenger headed back from East Sixth Street after a night of drinking alcohol. As she was headed home for the night, she ended up traveling the wrong direction on Ben White Boulevard and slammed head-on into a delivery truck. While the truck driver was immediately taken to the hospital and released, her passenger was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Nash-Wood told officers at the scene that she had been drinking whiskey that evening, and was still intoxicated at the time of the crash. If you or a friend or loved one has been seriously injured or killed by a drunk driver, please call an Austin wrongful death attorney and personal injury attorney that has the experience and knowledge to help you understand your legal rights and options.
